The accommodation

Governors’ Camp has 37 luxury tents and is located right in the heart of the best game viewing area of the Masai Mara. The entire camp is under canvas with all of the comforts of a luxury hotel. All guest tents are spacious, light and bright with beige, have large stone with wooden bathrooms and have extended verandahs. The camp looks stunning, overlooking the rivers and plains. Some of the tents have views across the sweeping plains of the Masai Mara, others look over the banks of the meandering Mara River. All tents are classic safari style each with en-suite bathrooms and a private verandah.

Each morning a breakfast feast is prepared over blazing coals:

mountains of bacon, eggs the way you like them, fresh milk flown-in daily, hot-baked croissants, exotic fruits, and freshly-brewed Kenya coffee. Lunch, like breakfast is a buffet, this time roast meats hot and cold, fresh salads and delicious desserts. Both meals are served on the shady riverbank with views across the Mara’s plains. If you are lucky, the bushpigs will join you for lunch, running around the tables. Governors camp has established the safari standard in Africa in regards to service, safari game drives, food and what else. It will be different to find another place that has this atmostphere and professionality towards service and safari.

Game viewing

Governors’ Camp properties combine the best locations in the Masai Mara with exceptionally highly trained and experienced guides to give you an un-matched game-viewing and photographic opportunity in the world’s prime wildlife area. You will be taken out three times a day into the famous Masai Mara Game Reserve and surrounding areas, at sunrise, late morning and late afternoon.

Hot Air Ballooning

The adventure begins just before dawn. Departure is from a perfect natural launch site behind Little Governors’ Camp, and flames from the hot air balloon burners light the darkness as the crews inflate their craft. The first, pink tongues of sunlight flicker across the skies and the hot air balloon fills, then rises. Suspended in a basket beneath the rainbow-coloured canopy, you’re off for a game-viewing adventure with an entirely different perspective. What amazes most first-time balloonists is the absolute stillness: the silence as you float above the plains, the forest and the rivers of the Masai Mara. Even if you’ve flown elsewhere, this is a unique experience.
